Conclusion

Okay so I produced the final design of Bubble-Gum girl which i felt came out quite decently although tweaking would still be nice to do. Like i had already said an arch rival or enemy would be a definite nice thing to produce and perhaps a few panels with Bubble-Gum girl to give the character a basic story background and recognizable personality. Through the project I have learnt alot about Steve Ditko from his history as well as what characters he had created and a little about the private individual that he is.
If i was to go further with this project another thing I would like to do is continually work at producing drawings in Steve Ditko's style as oposed to the current not so similar Bubble-Gum Girl piece of work.
I would edit Bubble-Gum Girl even more and work towards producing a few pages of panels towards eventually creating a short comic book strip story of how she gained her powers.

Bubble-Gum Girl Finished

So heres Bubble-Gum girl with the added shading which brings her more to life. Id like to add the knife/katana on the back at somepoint perhaps, also if i were to work on her past the assignment an arch enemy or rival would be an idea that could be fun to produce.

Bubble-Gum Girl Colour

Okay ive added basic colour to the drawing now, I will begin to add shading to finish the drawing off after this. As you can see i kept with the red and green of the hair and eyes and chose violet for the top and black for the gloves and shorts.

Bubble-Gum Girl B+W

Heres the outline of Bubble-Gum girl, i will soon add colour. I took the original drawing and did relatively the same character pose although certain things are tweaked, the character is more to a correct scale, the face itself looks more realistic with the head looking more above.
I also added binoculars to the belt she is wearing as opposed to the glass bottle that was shown before.
I think i will keep the hair and eye colours the same as planned which were red and green.

Thinking about what I wanted to produce for a final piece I decided to look into doing another version of Bubble-Gum Girl, this time in full colour and more realistic.

A look at a comparison of art styles

  - Steve Ditko

To the left are 3 panels from Steve Ditko's work of batman while he was at his time at DC comics. Here you can see the difference in his work to other drawings of batman.
Here he looks more mysterious and has a less typical heroic and handsome appearance along with Steve Ditko's noteable claustrophobic feel within his panels.

To the right is a piece of work by another comic book artist that was a possibility to look into during this assignment "Neal Adams". Here you can see his drawing of Batman is much more like the typical view of him in comics and movies today. Here he looks very heroic and has that handsome hero look in general. He also seems to look more physically strong in this version and quite different to Steve Ditko's work. Although it is a quite different style I very much appreciate Neal Adams work also.

One reason i decided to choose Steve Ditko's work was because his looks very different to the designs and artwork you would see in comics today and so it was unique in that sense. His background was also very interesting as he had worked with Marvel as well as DC (The two major comic book companies) and other small independant groups.

Another image i produced for the character bubble-gum girl.
I feel it has the element of humour to it.
